Life

Life outside of school seems just as busy as in. I grew up in a farming family in Cornville, Maine. My brother, sister, and I are the fifth generation on the dairy farm. After school and weekends I can often be found helping out feeding calves and milking some 300 cows on our Rotoflo carousel milking parlor.

My wife, Stacey, runs a daycare out of our home. Needless to say our home is constantly a flurry of activity. Stacey is a firm believer of getting the kids outside and keeping them active. We often take the older kids on trips throughout the year. We have taken them camping, hiking, seen the Belfast Bears, and taken them on mystery rides. We have had some of these kids so long that many of them seem like they should be nieces and nephews. Stacey has taken a liking to a new hobby called letterboxing and is hooked! She's tallied over 600 finds thus far!
Wednesday evenings find me working with our teenagers, grades 7 - 12, at the Skowhegan Church of the Nazarene. We have a great bunch of kids with lots of energy and enthusiasm. I really enjoy getting to know these kids over a period of years and then seeing where life leads them as they enter adulthood.
With all this going on free time is rare, but when I do find some I love to hike, bike, kayak (especially on the Kennebec), and play racquetball. Winter adds the fun of snowshoeing, cross country, and an occasional down hill ski experience. I also have had the opportunity to be part of the Skowhegan Community Band where I play alto sax and am relearning to play the french horn.
