Professional Experience

Pathways Teacher, Skowhegan Area Middle School, Skowhegan, Maine, 1999 to present. Pathways is a 12 week exploratory class for 7th graders. In Pathways an integrated career education/technology class. The curriculum involves Internet safety, self awareness, potential career investigation, entrepreneurship, and basic budgeting concepts. Students develop a variety of projects including podcasts, brochures, presentations, movies, and webpages. These projects then become part of an html based progressfolio that illustrates their journey through the class.

MLTI Teacher Leader, Skowhegan Area Middle School, Skowhegan, Maine, 2002 to present. The teacher leader is responsible for disseminating information from the MLTI state level to the teachers in our school, encouraging integration of the laptop into teachers curriculum, notifying of training opportunities, and managing the school's MLTI First Class email accounts.

Literacy Leadership Team, Skowhegan Area Middle School, Skowhegan, Maine, 2008 to present. Our team works on planning, integrating, and implementing school wide use of literacy strategies across the curriculum throughout our entire school to engage students in higher levels of reading and reading comprehension.

National Teacher Training Institute, Maine PBS, Lewiston, ME, 2002 Master Teacher and 2003 Mentor Teacher. NTTI involves writing lesson plans that integrate the strategic use of video and the Internet into those lesson plans. Once these lesson plans are completed the authors present them at an NTTI conference. Lesson plans are also made available to other educators from the NTTI web site.

Technology in the Classroom Award, Maine PBS, Lewiston, ME, 2002. An award given to one teacher each year who demonstrates exceptional use of technology within their classroom.

Staff Development, Skowhegan Area Middle School, Skowhegan, Maine, 2000 to present. Have taught a variety of computer classes to colleagues who want to better utilize technology in their classroom.
